Remote Ophthalmology

Traditional eye care involved referral from high street optometry to hospital eye services. This referral can often be avoided if a video call through the optometrist’s equipment connects the patient, the optometrist and the eye doctor in hospital.

NHS FV, University of Strathclyde and NHS Grampian and Community Optometry have partnered to enable this mode of working. This saves the patient travel, waiting rooms, decreases crowding and decreases strain on hospitals, improving both the quality of care and patient journey.
