vCreate Secure video service

Clinical lead: Neil Patel

Project manager: Aileen McIntyre

Board: NHSGGC

The vCreate secure video service allows nurses and doctors to record and share video messages which are uploaded to a secure platform for patients' families to view.

The vCreate secure video service was first developed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The service has been a lifeline during the COVID-19 pandemic with visiting restrictions in place.

The vCreate service has also been adapted to enable by patients to share videos securely with their clinical team, allowing remote diagnosis and accelerating treatment and follow-up.

The West of Scotland Innovation Hub supported the expansion of vCreate for use in all paediatric and adult Intensive Care Units across Scotland. The service is now also being piloted in care homes to help keep families connected to their loved ones.
