First West of Scotland Innovation Hub Open Day hailed "success"

More than 100 delegates attended the first ever West of Scotland Innovation Hub Open Day, held as part of Glasgow Tech Week 2024.

The day-long itinerary featured presentations by Professor David Lowe and Dr Neil Patel, a panel discussion with Clinical Lead Professor Ioanna Nixon and a showcase event with Chief Scientist Office Clinical Fellow Ana Talbot and Innovation Hub Clinical Fellow Hartesh Battu.

As well as this, Caelus and Medtronic were just two of the industry partners who provided tech demos of the projects they are currently running through the West of Scotland Innovation Hub.

The attendees came from academia and industry as well as interested parties from tech start-ups and law.

WoSIH Innovation Lead Katriona Brooksbank said: “We are delighted that so many people took up our offer, as part of Glasgow Tech Week, to come along and find out what the West of Scotland Innovation Hub does.

“Not only have we been able to showcase the work of the Hub to external organisations but we have also been able to link up professionals making connections with clinical staff and researchers.

“People have been making contacts that may help drive more collaborations in the future and we are more than happy to make sure that we can continue to facilitate these kinds of relationships which are at the heart of innovation.”
